1. Cemetery as the last resting place

A cemetery is an important part of human life and the current personal and social image. It is intended to enable the relatives their own way of mourning and an undisturbed memory of the deceased in an area separated from the area of the living.
A cemetery is the last resting place of the deceased, the place of memory, the entrance to the world of mourning and in many cultures the place where families traditionally gather on special celebrations and memorial days. The relatives keep the memory of the deceased alive by taking care of the grave.
The last resting places are part of material heritage because of their architectural, horticultural and environmental importance, but they are also part of non-material heritage, since they show their cultural and religious identity, anthropological reality and associated rituals, practices and customs. Cemeteries are the impressions of life, since the deceased were and, in some ways, still are a part of history and culture of a place and a period in which they left their unique seal.
